Resting with Our Good Shepherd
Preaching for the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle B
The world is a busy and noisy place which values speed and activity. And yet in the Gospel today we learn the great importance that God places on us coming away to a quiet and deserted place to rest in the silence with Him.
We are not simply machines meant to function efficiently and produce. We are a people who find ourselves in contemplation of the mystery of God. Not only that but when we do rest we know that Our Good Shepherd looks after us, watches over us and provides for us.
Take some time this week, this month, and this year to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the world and to find God in the silence, trusting that God will provide and shepherd all the while.
